Yoga Nidra & Meditation sessions aim to help people discover and more importantly enjoy the feeling of stopping. Meditative practices don't have to be a struggle – we work towards taming the “monkey mind”, sure, but we are only human! If being still terrifies you, don't worry – there is no pressure to perform or to prove anything to anybody, just give it a go! The human mind is busy by nature and overstimulated by our current lifestyles – leading to physical and mental dis-ease. With adequate preparation it is possible for anybody to achieve stillness – and therefore freedom from the incessant chatter of the mind. With practice this will lead to a sharper mind and a more peaceful outlook on life – worth a try, don't you think?

What to expect:

The first part of the session is dedicated to slowing down with Yoga Nidra, a very worthy practice (more info here) which is also an excellent preparation for meditation. So after “waking up” from our blissful yogic slumber, we sit (alternatives offered) for some practice of 'dharana' – the single focused concentration that eventually leads to the state of meditation. Different methods are explored monthly. No experience is needed.

An optional cup of something warm is offered before heading out into the dark, and the chance to sit silently with the group or share your experience.

What people say...

"Each class has been completely different and as with physical yoga I have left each class feeling a different part of my mind has been stretched.  Elli explains the yogic reasoning for each practice which she breaks down into segments that piece together by the end of the class.  There are definite health benefits, I definitely feel I am handling stress better and dare I say it I feel my memory is improving." Lottie

"In Leaf House Elli has created in her garden a warm, cosy and spiritual space in which she leads her Yoga Nidra and meditation teaching, clearly and with understanding. Both times I have attended I returned home feeling refreshed and at peace for the rest of the evening, and well into the next day! To be recommended for both the experienced and the non-experienced alike." Kingsley, a Yoga Teacher.

"Yoga Nidra is wonderful, I have just had two sessions so far and my sleep pattern has improved so much already. Thank you, Elli." Ela

"I was apprehensive about going along to Yoga Nidra for the first time. I was concerned that I would not be able to stay still for so long or control the chattering in my mind. But I needn't have worried. Elli has an amazingly warm, calm and reassuring nature and I instantly felt ready to let her lead me through the experience. It's hard to put into words how I felt after the session. I think there is a deep physical and mental relaxation that isn't gained from either sleep or exercise. A back injury that I had been suffering with for a few weeks felt almost completely healed. The benefits from just one session where noticeable for days after and I am convinced that regular practise could have a profound effect on both physical and mental well-being. I can't wait for the next session!" Becky
